2006 Grocery Charity Ball set to be a success MC Tony Veitch will again amuse and abuse us at this year’s 3rd annual ball, which is raising funds for the children’s research charity Cure Kids. Last year, ticket sales along with the silent and live auctions raised a whopping $150,000 for Project K, and the inaugural ball in 2004 raised $100,000 for Cystic Fibrosis. Tickets can still be purchased by making contact via the website www.grocerycharityball.org. Admission Director and Ball Trustee Rob Davis reckons it’s a night not to be missed. “It’s the only occasion I know where you can buy 3 hours of exclusive attention from the chief executives of both Foodstuffs and Progressive!” (one of the live auction items is a round of golf at Titirangi with Tony Carter and Marty Hamnett). Rob is still struggling through his last two dozen cans of Watties baked beans – after buying a year’s supply (30 dozen) at last year’s ball. Doesn’t bear thinking about ... |
